2021 Cosplay Trends Predictions Part 2: Cartoons, Anime, and Video Games

December 11, 2020

2020 has seemed like the longest year ever. However, 2021 is just around the corner. And, although nobody is sure what next year will exactly look like, we wanted to try and make our 2021 cosplay predictions. In this post, we are going to focus on cartoons, anime, and video games that we think will inspire the next 12 months. Let's start looking ahead to the new year.

Avatar: The Last Airbender/The Legend of Korra

With no cons in 2020 (as well as a lot more time stuck inside), some of us got to watch Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra for the first time. And, we bet some of you are now obsessed like we are. Let's take our love for these two shows into the new year and start cosplaying them even more!

Both anime-inspired shows boast a great cast of characters--all of which would be so much fun to cosplay. But, since the shows have been around for a while, maybe you have already spent a good deal of time cosplaying your favorite character? If this is the case, we think a mash-up cosplay from either of these two shows would be really fun!

Raya and the Last Dragon

One of the newest Disney movies--starring Kelly Marie Tran and Awkwafina--seems destined to be a hit, in our eyes. Raya and the Last Dragon looks like an action-packed adventure surrounded by incredible lore. And, like so many animated Disney films, the design of Raya (and other characters) is detailed and beautiful. In this movie, the titular character is looking for the last dragon in the world; we, however, are just looking for a great cosplay.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

One of the most popular games of the past couple years is Animal Crossing. And, with consistent and new updates, Animal Crossing cosplays are frequently relevant. In a previous post, we showed you how to make Stiches' ears. However, there are so many other Animal Crossing: New Horizons characters that we think would be great to cosplay. If you've already made Stiches' ears, we recommend you try cosplaying Isabelle or Raymond in 2021.H2x1_NSwitch_AnimalCrossingNewHorizons_image1600w

Cyberpunk 2077

This upcoming video game is also bound to be popular among cosplayers in 2021. The neon and futuristic landscapes of Cyberpunk 2077 are sure to ignite the imagination of any cosplayer. Sure, V or Johnny Silverhand (played by the great Keanu Reeves) will make great cosplays. But, what we really want to see in 2021 is cosplayers making their own characters that could fit in the Cyberpunk 2077 world. cyberpunk-2077-1--1233341-1280x0

Attack on Titan

Lastly, we have to talk about anime. As so many of us know, cosplaying anime is one of the best things in the WHOLE WORLD. With the start of season 4, we expect to see a lot more Attack on Titan cosplays. Of course, Mikasa and Levi are the go-to characters to play from Attack on Titan. So, let's get creating!
